Experimenting with Mahara (www.mahara.org)

Able to install and got it to work with uBuntu (Using the Untimate version of uBuntu). Experiencing problems with:

Need to simplify the login process, and account creation process:

1) Regenerating the public key for the computers new IP Address - so cannot get moodle / mahara to work until I find a way to regenerate the certificate, (or wait 28 days for the certificate to expire!)

2) Uploading users via CVS file - will not upload - Error - Institution does not exist.

Will attempt to install LDAP in the next day or so.

Enabling calculations

To enable calculations for you gradebook:

Login as teacher or other user with permission to edit grades.
Go to course.
Click on Grades in the Administration block.
Click the “Turn Editing On” button on the top right corner.
Click the “Show Calculations” icon on the middle top.
Click the little calculator symbol under Course Total column which will bring you to the calculations page.

NOTE: Needed to click on “Edit calculation for …….” to add and edit calculation

Trying out openDNS . This is a DNS service that includes filtering. Seems to be working thus far. Using this as a second filter to Dansguardian. It does not require any software installation, only a change of settings on the router.
